Usually the difference in pricing comes down to quality/presentation of the food, food quantities, and service. Taste! will always provide great service from beginning to the end. We will review your event to be sure you have every aspect of the event covered. We also prepare nearly everything from scratch so the quality is unmatched.
This is a very important question. Many “caterers” offer food only or very minimal service. While we do offer drop off service for events when it is appropriate, most of our events are full service. This means we provide staff to set up, serve and care for your guests throughout the event, and clean up upon conclusion. Attentive service is key to a successful event!
Our deposit to reserve the date for a wedding is $1000 along with a signed contract. For weekday events, a $250 deposit and a signed contract is required.
Full Service events with Taste! to Go will have an operations fee included on the invoice. This fee represents the overhead costs associated with off-site catering, such as, equipment, vehicles, fuel, etc. Gratuity is not required for events with Taste! to Go, but is recommended and greatly appreciated.
Weddings require a $1000 non refundable booking fee to hold the date. 50% payment is due 2 months prior to your reception and final payment is due 2 weeks prior to your event.

Taste! To Go accepts checks and credit cards, payments can be made online if requested.
Food and Presentation
The majority of your menu will be prepared at our kitchen. Some active stations or passed hors d’oevres, however, will be prepared on-site. Quality is of utmost importance to us and we also bring grills, burners & skilllets, toaster ovens, large cooking ovens when needed. We always coordinate this with the venue and/or client when necessary.
If there are quite a bit of leftovers, we donate the leftovers to Central Iowa Shelters & Services or to the Drake Recovery Program. If there is a refrigerator on site or at your home we are able to leave some leftovers if they have been kept at safe temperatures through the evening.
Absolutely! We can work with you to identify and account for any dietary restrictions and make sure that kids have a meal they can enjoy!
For weddings, we always display our food with your design in mind. Is your style elegant, modern, rustic or simple? We can use silver or gold displays, fun colors, wood & slate, etc. We want the food to look like it is part of your event too!
For in home or corporate events we also want to carry out the style of your home, office or brand with the food displays.
Logistics
Every event is unique, but most events require our staff to have access to the site at least 2 hours before guests arrive. If the venue is new or if it is a unique tented event we will also do a site visit with you to confirm all logistics.
Taste! To Go staff wears all black uniforms and aprons.
We will go above and beyond to make sure your event is a success, even with last minute requests. It is important to ask for dietary requests ahead of time, and plan as well as you can so that you are not stressed on the day of your event.
For weddings and most other events, the menu and guest count must be set two weeks in advance of your event. This allows us to fully staff your event and ensure we will have enough for everyone to eat!
